Compare the full cost of a cleaning appliance

Use the same scope for purchase, delivery, approved accessories and recurring supplies, while keeping unknown repair costs visible.

Define the comparison before adding numbers

A useful ownership-cost comparison gives every candidate the same time horizon and cost categories. Start with the delivered purchase quote, including applicable tax in your chosen input. Add required approved accessories and a clearly labeled annual supply allowance. Keep unpriced items visible instead of presenting a partial subtotal as the guaranteed full cost. The goal is to make different offers comparable, not to predict every future event.

Save the actual included-parts list. A cleaner body, a ready-to-use bundle and a robot with a service station are not equivalent offers merely because their product names look similar. The canister photograph makes the body, hose and head visible as distinct pieces. It does not establish what a current seller includes.

Carry a declared example to its final result

Assume a hypothetical delivered purchase of $300, annual supplies of $48, a 3-year planning period and $20 of other one-time costs. Recurring supplies total $144. Adding $300, $144 and $20 gives a $464 planning total. These are invented inputs, not current retail prices or a forecast. Our ownership calculator performs exactly this addition on the values you enter.

The result includes only those stated categories. It does not estimate repairs, electricity, price inflation or resale. If you want to compare two candidates, use the same horizon and include the same kinds of costs in both. Otherwise a lower subtotal can simply reflect a missing entry rather than a cheaper ownership plan.

Build the annual allowance from actual parts

Identify the compatible bags, pads, filters or other required supplies before entering an annual amount. Separate the price of a pack from the assumed number of units consumed. A washable part's care interval is not automatically its replacement interval. Dyson's filter-care guidance illustrates why washing and drying requirements must be kept distinct from a purchasing schedule.

The bag photograph is included to show a physical recurring consumable and its connection plate. It is not a current parts recommendation or a claim about replacement frequency. If you do not yet have a compatible part identifier or dated quote, label the allowance provisional. Do not treat an unknown recurring cost as confirmed zero merely to complete the comparison.

Do not turn warranty wording into a zero-repair assumption

Read the actual warranty separately from the budget arithmetic. The FTC consumer guide explains that coverage can have limits and that a separately purchased service contract is different from the warranty supplied with a product. A warranty term does not establish that every repair, shipping cost or maintenance item will be paid for. Keep the exact coverage document with the candidate.

This guide does not estimate the chance of a fault or interpret an individual claim. An unpriced repair category should remain explicitly unpriced. If a paid service plan is under consideration, list its cost separately and compare its written scope before adding it. Do not describe a purchase as risk-free because a coverage period appears in the advertisement.

Follow the rows in order; a missing permission remains an unresolved decision.

Use the total as one part of the decision

A lower planning total cannot fix a surface restriction, inaccessible dock location or unsuitable handling routine. Resolve those practical requirements first, then compare candidates that can serve the intended task. Keep qualitative differences such as storage and required preparation beside the cost record rather than assigning invented monetary values to them.

Save the input values, quote date and source links so the calculation can be updated when a bundle or price changes. The station image illustrates why included equipment affects both cost and space; it does not prove a self-emptying feature or current bundle availability. A sound final comparison states what is included, what remains unknown and why the selected time horizon suits your purchasing question.
